A third colloquium was held on 26 - 28 June 2008. All sessions met at The Rooms in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada.
Like its predecessors, the 2008 Colloquium was designed to encourage scholarly interaction in both formal and informal ways. In each of the two-hour sessions, only a small amount of time was allotted to the presenters for their introductory remarks (since it was assumed that all participants had read the relevant papers in advance). The emphasis was instead upon discussion and debate. Some of the didn't present a paper but were knowledgeable in some aspect of the financial revolution and contributed to the discussion. All participants attended the group lunches and dinners (the costs of which, excluding alcohol, were covered entirely by the organizers). As at the two last colloquiua, post-dinner discussions lasted long into the evening.
Organizers for the colloquium were Chris Fauske (School of Arts & Sciences, Salem State College), Rick Kleer (Department of Economics, University of Regina), and Ivar McGrath (School of History and Archives, University College Dublin).
